We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. That means we decide how and why your data is processed.

2. Why We Collect Your Data

We use your personal data for the following purposes:

We will never sell your personal data to anyone.

3. Marketing Communications

We will only send you marketing emails (such as news about new courses or special offers) if you have specifically opted in to receive them.

You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email, or by emailing us at hello@peninsulalearn.com.

We will never send marketing emails to children.

The ePrivacy Regulations 2011 require explicit opt-in consent for marketing emails. No pre-ticked boxes.

4. Who We Share Your Data With

We keep your data as private as possible. We may share it with:

Hosting provider. Hostinger (our website host). Your data may be stored on their servers. Hostinger’s privacy policy applies to their handling of that data.
Payment provider. When you pay for classes, your payment is processed by a third-party provider (e.g., Stripe or your bank). We don’t store your card details.
Email service. If we use an email marketing tool in the future, we’ll update this policy with the provider’s name and details.
Analytics. We may use Google Analytics or similar tools to understand how visitors use our website. These tools use cookies (see our Cookie Policy).
Legal or regulatory authorities. If required by law.

We do not share your data with any other third parties for their own marketing or commercial purposes.

5. International Data Transfers

Some of the third-party services we use (such as hosting or analytics providers) may store or process data outside the European Economic Area (EEA).

Where this happens, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, or that the recipient is certified under an adequacy framework such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

6. How Long We Keep Your Data

We don’t keep your data any longer than we need to. Here’s a general guide:

Contact enquiries. We keep your message and details for up to 12 months after our last communication, then delete them.
Student records (name, booking history, learning notes). Kept for the duration of your time as a student, plus 12 months after your last class.
Payment records. Kept for 6 years as required by Irish tax law (Taxes Consolidation Act 1997).
Website analytics data. Anonymised and aggregated. Individual data is not retained beyond 26 months.
Marketing consent records. Kept for as long as you remain subscribed, plus 12 months after unsubscribing (to prove we had consent).

7. Your Rights

Under the GDPR and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018, you have the following rights:

Right of access. You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Right to rectification. You can ask us to correct any data that’s inaccurate or incomplete.
Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”). You can ask us to delete your data, subject to any legal obligations we have to retain it.
Right to restrict processing. You can ask us to limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.
Right to data portability. You can ask us to provide your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
Right to object. You can object to our processing of your data where we rely on legitimate interest as our legal basis.
Right to withdraw consent. Where we rely on your consent (e.g., marketing emails), you can withdraw it at any time.

There is no fee for making a request, unless the request is clearly unfounded or excessive.

8. Children’s Data

When we teach children, we collect their name and age so that we can deliver age-appropriate lessons. This data is provided to us by a parent or guardian. We don’t collect it directly from children.

We apply the same protections to children’s data as to all personal data, and we will always seek parental consent before processing a child’s information.

We don’t knowingly collect personal data from children under 16 without parental consent, in line with the Irish Digital Age of Consent.

Ireland set the digital age of consent at 16 under the Data Protection Act 2018 (Section 31).

9. How We Protect Your Data

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal data, including:

Using secure, encrypted connections (HTTPS) on our website
Password-protecting access to any systems where personal data is stored
Limiting access to personal data to Noemí Louro only
Using reputable third-party providers with their own security measures

No system is completely secure, but we take our responsibility to protect your data seriously and will notify you and the Data Protection Commission of any breach that poses a risk to your rights, as required by law.

GDPR Article 33 requires breach notification to the DPC within 72 hours. Article 34 requires notification to affected individuals if there’s a high risk.

10. Cookies

In line with guidance from the Irish Data Protection Commission, non-essential cookies are only activated after you give your consent through our cookie banner (managed by CookieYes).

WordPress also sets a small number of technical cookies when site administrators log in. These are used only for site management and are not set for regular visitors.

11. Embedded Content

Some pages on our website may include embedded content from other services. For example, YouTube videos, Google Maps, or social media posts.

Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if you had visited that website directly. These services may collect data about you, set their own cookies, and track your interaction with the embedded content.

We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of any third-party services whose content appears on our site. We only embed content where it adds genuine value, and non-essential cookies from embedded content are blocked until you give consent through our cookie banner.

12. Images and Media

If you send us images (for example, as part of a school programme or communication), please be aware that images can contain embedded location data (EXIF GPS). We recommend removing location data from images before sending them to us, particularly images of children.

We do not extract or use location data from any images shared with us.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.

If we make changes that significantly affect how we handle your data, we’ll make reasonable efforts to let you know.

If you’re not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission:
